The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) released a procedure they will follow in administering the COVAX Vaccine to citizens in the country.
According to the approved rollout schedule, 12,500 vaccinators are going to be engaged across the country in 3 phases and it is expected to run from March to October.
Five categories of working groups are expected to take the first dose of the vaccine when the exercise begins. They are; Health Care Workers, The Aged, Frontline Security Persons, Frontline Members of Government, Parliament and the Judiciary, and Persons with underlying Medical Conditions.
Concerns have been raised by critics as to why teachers were excluded in the first phase of vaccination since they are also at major risks and are in direct contact with children.
