It is the joy of every student to have a graduation ceremony as a way to connect with family and friends on their individual achievements. It saddened my heart when I saw the management decisions for only first-class students should be present at this graduation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, 12th September 2020 at 9 a.m.
How can we not wear the Academic Gowns to take our memorable pictures while we are paying for it?
I know we are not in normal times and management is doing that to prevent the risk of COVID-19 spreading, but I believe we can give this a second thought. We don’t agree that only first-class students should be present at the graduation ceremony after each graduant has paid an amount (BTech. GHc 350.00 and HND. GHc 300.00) and it covers the following Cost of Certificate, Cost of Certificate Holder, The hiring of Academic Gowns, Congregation brochure, Souvenirs.
IT IS NOT FAIR!
We suggest that management boycott its decision for only first-class students to be present at this 16th congregation ceremony and rather do it in batches for all. This becomes fair for all of us as a way to bring peace and joy among we the graduants. If it can’t be done in batches then management should take off the cost of Academic gowns and refund students who have already paid and will not be present at the ceremony
Secondly, we should be given the chance to bring a few family members and friends to experience this ceremony with us not disregarding any COVID protocols.
I believe the VC and the entire management second to the above petition and would take into consideration our grievances.
Long live KTU, long live the entire management, long live Ghana.
