Before the virus entered our shores, every one had his own view about the virus. Some claimed the heat from the sun kills the virus. Others speculated that it cannot kill any black man. Presently in Ghana, there are 20,085 confirmed cases with 122 deaths and the active cases are now at 5,093. So it clear most of the speculation are not true. In addition, some schools were reported to have confirmed cases. But before that, there were circulating stories of some schools that have tested positive that was proved to be a force.
The first on the list is Adisadel College. There was news that Adisadel College had 3 of its students who had tested positive. The headmistress of Adisadel College refuted those stories by saying that none of the students has reported ill.
Mfantseman Senior High was the next to be hit by stories of confirmed cases. The news had it that Mfantseman Senior High school had 13 of their students who have been affected by the virus. Headmistress of the school, Phyllis Arthur came out to throw light on the incident claiming it was all fallacies.
Finally, Apam Senior High School was also in the news for the same reason but authorities of Apam Senior High School also denied such stories. The claim that indicated 7 of the students had tested positive for the virus.
Away from those fake news, some schools have also been confirmed for recording some cases.
University of Ghana
University of Ghana, the first public
University was ironically the first to be in the news as one of their students tested positive for coronavirus. The school was closed immediately and contact tracing began but no one else got infected.
Accra Technical University
The Technical University recorded its first case on June 23, 2020. National service personnel in one of the undisclosed departments was infected with the virus. Six colleagues got in contact with him and all of them were taken to isolation.
Accra Girls Senior High
Six students tested positive after their samples were taken. There were other 5 students showing the symptoms but the result proved negative. However,r they will continue to be in isolation. This happened on Monday, June 29, 2020
