The current Ghc700 monthly stipend of trainees in the Nation Builders Corpse (NABCO) is currently under consideration for upwards adjustments by the end of the year.
This is according a highly placed source within the NABCO organisation at its headquarters.
About 100,000 graduate are benefiting from the unemployment alleviation scheme nationwide since it’s establishment in 2018.
Upon assumption of office of the Akufo-Addo administration into office in 2017, it put together this scheme to help ameliorate the suffering of unemployed graduate.

It took off finally in 2018 with seven different modules. Graduate enrolled into the Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Civil Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitise Ghana, Enterprise Ghana and Educate Ghana modules.
Launching the program in May 2018, the president said NABCO’s central focus, would be to create employment avenues and opportunities for young people who hold diplomas or degrees from accredited tertiary institutions, adding that “NABCO will enhance the dignity and self-esteem of our graduates, and will also present them with the added benefit of efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of some essential public services.”
After two years of successful implementation, the beneficiaries are about to get a pay rise. The news of the pay increase started flying around as a rumour at the beginning of the year 2020, however, official announcement was not made largely due to the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic. The toll on the general economic health affected the decision.
The matter of the stipends upward adjustment nonetheless remains a reality with a materialization in the offing. The trusted source is confident the decision has received the blessing of the president and announcement should be made anytime soon.
Currently, beneficiaries go home with a monthly stipend of Ghc700. This amount is likely to go up by about 28% which will then peg at Ghc900.
Some school of thought have read political motives into the increase and says it is timed to meet the election period in order to give the incumbent government an undue advantage.
But speaking to this, sources at the NABCO secretariat discounted any such motive. Adding, some trainees serving in the public sector will soon be converted as permanent workers if they should get a good reference from their current institution of engagements.
