Your brain has over 100 billion of cells that collectively controls whatever your body does. The strange thing is that, most people have got negative habits that they are doing every single day that they are not aware of, which is causing damage to their brain.
Even worse, many of these habits have long term and possibly fatal consequences and that’s why in today’s article, I’m going to show you the five bad habits you need to remove from your everyday routine.
Please pay attention to every one of these points.
1. Covering your head during sleep.
Research has proven that, sleeping while the head is being covered with your blanket can cause brain damage. In fact studies have said, up to 23% of individuals who cover their head during sleep have a higher risk of Dementia and Alzheimers.
These conditions in most cases are due to lack of oxygen to the brain. Keeping your head free is a useful way of keeping these issues at bay. It’s vital to understand that covering your head as you sleep means that, you will be taking in the air that you breathed out, which does not contain much oxygen. The air you breathed out stays in the blanket which is the carbon dioxide. So make sure to never cover your head during sleep.!
2. Chronic lack of sleep.
Research has shown that, chronic lack of sleep increases the risk of Alzheimers diseases and other Neurological disorders. A continuous lack of sleep harms your memory too. This is because, in your sleep, mechanisms are hard at work to eliminate toxins and by products to clear your brain from a day’s work.
A lack of sleep means, these mechanisms can not get sufficiently activated and therefore fail to clean any harmful substances. If these substances are not eliminated, they can start to accumulate in your brain and lead to a severe damage.
So here is the solution, get at least 7-8 hours of quality and undisturbed sleep every night.
This is a common knowledge that most of us do not commonly practice. Water takes up to at least 2/3 of the human body. So it plays a crucial role in our daily bodily functions.
And that’s why dehydration can lead to lot of problems such as;
It can also take impact on your brain which can affect your mood and overall brain function too.
Symptoms of dehydration includes; proneness to irritability, Anxiety and Fatigue.
Also remember that, 3/4 of your brain is water, without enough water, your brain actually shrinks in volume. This shrinking that causes a dehydration headache.
4. Chronic stress
There are two types of stress you need to know about, The Acute stress & the Chronic street. Despite how you feel, not all stress are bad for you.
Acute stress is a quick reaction to an immediate threat, commonly known as fight or flight responses. You return to normal without any harm or damage.
However, cortisol from chronic stress stays in your system all day long. That’s why it makes it dangerous. This leads to weight gain, digestive issues, hormone imbalances, cancer, heart diseases, memory loss and brain fog.
And then when brain becomes worried, it changes your brain functioning. That’s why it’s so important for you to manage your state throughout the day.
5. Lack of mental stimulation and exercise
This is why they say, “you either use it lose it”. Studies show that, mental decline is not due to aging. People who live mentally stimulating life are likely to be free from specific diseases. The more active your brain is, the better your memory is likely to be.
