A total of six hundred and twenty-four (624) persons have contracted coronavirus in the Western Region of Ghana.
New figures released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the region indicates six (6) more cases have been added unto the existing six hundred and eighteen (618) cases.
One person has been confirmed dead with total recoveries in the region standing at ten (10).
The six (6) new cases were recorded from the Shama District of the Western Region. The region also has a total of twenty-three (23) suspected cases of the virus in the past twenty-four hours.
The Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis has two hundred and two (202) cases with the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality leading with two hundred and fifty(250) cases.
Wassa Amenfi East and the Amenfi Central Districts are least on the table with no positive cases.
Following the announcement on the lifting of ban on church services, the Western Region Health Directorate have met with the clergy to discuss modalities of church activities.
Trained health staff have been deployed to various isolation centers. The western region is third on the national list after Greater Accra and the Ashanti regions.
