“Ghana Has Not Requested For Madagascar’s Supposed COVID-19 Cure” – Government Clarifies
ShareShareShareShareShare

The Government, through the honourable Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has rejected claims in various media outlets that Ghana has requested for Madagascar’s widely publicized cure for COVID-19.

There were various reports in the media a few days ago that the government had requested for the much-publicized herbal cure for COVID-19 from our African neighbours, Madagascar.

Some of the news even claimed that the government had already taken delivery of the said cure and had referred it to the Food and Drugs Authority to test it for its efficacy.

However, reacting officially to the said reports, Honourable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah rejected the claims as untrue, clarifying that Madagascar rather reached out to us and not the other way round.

According to the honourable minister, Government has referred the sample offered by Madagascar to the Center for Plant Medicine Research and the FDA for further tests.

The Minister further disclosed that several local herbal medicine outlets have also reached out to the government with various medicines which they propose as cures for the virus. These have all been referred to the research centres for efficacy testing.
