Education Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh has revealed the actual date schools will reopen in an interview monitored by wobeti.com
The member of Parliament for Manhyia constituency today April 29th said on Ghone TV that schools will only reopen when government has gotten an upper hand over the novel coronavirus.
According to him, the virus can breed among healthy population and shutter the dreams of parents and for as much as parents want the best for their kids so do government want the best for students in every facet of their academic life.
Reports by some news portal suggest that basic schools will resume school on September 10, 2020. Also all form two’s, now going to form three will resume on 19th August 2020.
However reacting to such reports, the legislator said though the pandemic is having it toll on the academic calendar, government is not in a rush to send students back to school and in return increase the rate of coronavirus cases in the country.
He said schools will reopen when government has been able to reduce the spread of the virus and relevant stakeholders have been consulted to find the appropriate date schools can reopen.
