KTUSRC: Engages Management On Free E-learning Platform
ShareShareShareShareShare

Current developments concerning the COVID-19 virus outbreak has left the government of Ghana no choice than to shut down all schools to curb the outbreak of the disease.

Speaking at the Ministries’ press briefing on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, the Honourable Minister responsible of Education made it known that in spite of the closure of faculties across the country, plans are far underway to bring students of universities in the country back online so they can continue the semester.

Due to this, Vodafone Ghana is offering customers free access to varied educational websites and e-learning platforms to make sure academic continuity is unhindered.

This suggests that access to varied schools’ online academic content is going to be accessible at no cost for all data subscribers on the Vodafone Ghana network.

In line with this, the Students’ Representative Council of Koforidua Technical University has engaged the Vice Chancellor, Prof. David K. Essuman, to consider joining the initiative put forth by Vodafone Ghana.

This would enable students of KTU return to routine academic activity given that this approach is the only avenue that ensures complete safety and productivity for both students and lecturers.

This rare support has been introduced to enable Vodafone customers and academic institutions to continue their learning and teaching activities whilst Schools and Universities remain closed as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The network company is working with various educational institutions across the country to zero-rate their learning platforms for Vodafone data customers.

All that is needed is to be a Vodafone subscriber to get free access to numerous educational websites and e-learning platforms to make sure academic continuity is unhindered.

This can enable schools and universities to carry on carry on with their learning and teaching processes during this break, without paying for the exuberant data charges that could be incurred.

Students would not be bound to physical class sessions with this system in play. All lectures and needed materials are provided via online platforms, so they will be easily accessible from the comfort of home. Comfort may be a strong advantage, but it can go both ways. Students must not allow themselves to become too comfortable when studying from home, so it might be best to abandon the bed for a few hours each day and to establish an inspiring study-environment in their homes.

Please I want to ask if they have taken into consideration if every student on campus has access to a smart phone or a laptop with a modem to be able to access this E learning platform?…
As far as I’m concerned many students dont even have access to smart phones and you going on to think of E learning..
Where are they going to learn from? .. Yam phones?….
