The vision of the government of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency President Nana Akuffo Addo has seen to it that, every Ghanaian child has to benefit from the free senior high school initiative. It’s a very remarkable policy by the President and also a social intervention in the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian.
Some families both rich and poor embraced this initiative but forgetting its disadvantages on the impact of their children’s after successful completion.
I know some intellectuals may argue strongly against this but this will properly manifest as true when our children/wards finish this FSHS and universities (tertiaries).
The labour market must be able to absorb all these graduates but that’s not the case here in Ghana.
The unemployment rate is very high, so the problem the FSHS will be producing in the long run, in about the next 7 years graduate unemployment will uncontrollably balloon.
The central government have to engage heavily or invest more in industrialization to solve this future problem.
A personal conviction has taught me that most people can get a good job with good salaries, paying fees won’t be a challenge to them if the government provides an enabling environment for such.
I am not sounding political here but that’s my prediction and projection into the future.
